FAQ

What is a mod watch?

A mod is a watch built around a proven automatic movement, with a custom case, dial, hands, bezel and bracelet. Modding lets you get a specific look, like a fluted bezel or an octagon case, with a reliable, affordable movement inside. Read our beginner's guide to mod watches.

Are these Seiko mods?

No. Chronos Mods watches use a different self-winding automatic movement, not a Seiko movement.

What movement is inside?

A self-winding automatic movement, so there's no battery: it winds itself as you wear it. How to wind and care for an automatic watch.

Do I need to wind it?

If you wear it daily, no. If it's been sitting and has stopped, give the crown 20–30 turns to get it going, then set the time.

How fast is shipping?

Orders within the US ship in 1–3 days.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Every watch is backed by a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Will it fit my wrist?

Case sizes run from 36mm to 42mm and are listed on each product page. Bracelets can be shortened, and most watches include a link-removal tool so you can size it at home.

Are the watches water resistant?

Many models are rated to 10 bar / 100m. Check the specifications on each product page for that watch's rating.

Are these made by a luxury brand?

No. Chronos Mods watches are independently built mods. They aren't made by, or affiliated with, any luxury watch brand.
